About

WiT For Good is the social impact and outreach programme of WiT (Web in Travel).

Since 2008, the programme has raised close to US$1million for the betterment of women and children throughout Asia.

Its flagship fundraising event is the charity auction, held during the closing reception of WiT Singapore. Past auctions have featured artworks by local artists, exclusive travel experiences, and mentoring sessions with travel industry leaders.

Over the years, the programme has supported grassroots social enterprises in Indonesia, Cambodia, the Philippines, Myanmar, Japan, Vietnam, and Thailand—each driven by passionate individuals working to create meaningful change in their communities.

Last year, with your generosity, we raised close to US$60,000 for Saab Shares, a not-for-profit organization in Indonesia, working to reduce poverty and increase support for marginalized communities in Indonesia through children’s education, healthcare access and women’s empowerment programs.

Saab Shares is an extension of an initiative that Sabrina Bensawan launched when she was 16 with the support of her sister, Elena Bensawan, who was then 14. The two sisters were listed in Forbes’ 30 under 30 – Asia – Social Entrepreneurs in 2019. Sabrina was also recognised as EY Social Entrepreneur of the Year 2018.

Thanks to the 2024 funds, Saab Shares achieved transformative milestones
across education, infrastructure, and child welfare

  • Two years of operational support for our Rumah Belajar in Jakarta, Desa Fodo, and Desa Sifalaete – ensuring free education and skills classes continue uninterrupted.
  • 40 full-year scholarships for siblings of children with terminal illnesses and children with disabilities – breaking barriers to education for the most overlooked.
  • Construction of a washroom facility in Desa Orahili – providing clean, safe sanitation for the community.
  • Revitalisation of our Rumah Belajar branch in Desa Fodo – upgrading facilities to create a more inspiring learning environment.
  • Purchase of laptops for computer classes in Desa Hilimbosi, Desa Sifalaete, Desa Fodo, and Desa Fanedanu — bringing digital literacy to rural classrooms.
  • Distribution of school essentials — backpacks, shoes, stationery, and vitamins — to children in Jakarta, Desa Fodo, and to siblings of children with terminal illnesses.
  • Construction of a safehouse (Q3–Q4 project) for underprivileged children to live in a nurturing environment.

2025

This year, due to the stellar work done by the sisters with the funds raised in 2024, we will once again support their social enterprise Saab Shares.

In 2024, WiT For Good’s support kept our Rumah Belajar in three locations running for two full years, opened computer classes in remote villages, and provided scholarships to children who need them most. It also allowed us to upgrade facilities, build safe spaces, and deliver school essentials – ensuring every child we serve has the tools, skills, and confidence to shape a brighter future.
